This is a replica of an early 19th century oblong carrier which was used to collect wood shavings and kindling for starting fires. It was used in part of the Canterbury society in Canterbury, N.H. The box is constructed of hardwoods (Cherry and Ash) and finished with oil and French polished shellac. It is approximately 8' X 9" X 15" in dimension with a steam built bail. It is absolutely beautiful, and the shellac finish will blow you away.
